Originally developed in 1966 by the NASA to improve the safety of aircraft cushions, memory foam is polyurethane with additional chemicals increasing its viscosity and density. Pressure-sensitive, it molds quickly to the shape of a body pressing against it for more comfort, but returns faster than traditionnal upholstery to its original shape once the pressure is removed, for more durability.
PU leather is less absorbent than traditional upholstery, which makes for an easy-to-clean, stain-resistant covering. It also fades much slower in prolonged sunlight and holds its shape much longer. Clean it regularly, this will prevent many stains from remaining. To wash it, you can use specially designed cleaning products and tools. Do not use any harsh chemicals on the leather : a simple mild detergent and a slightly damp sponge will do. Let the upholstery dry thoroughly.
Chrome is known to be tough, extra strong and built to last. Constantly maintain your chrome bar stool by wiping it quickly when there is a spill. To clean, you can use just water and mild soap, and completely dry it after. Other suggested ways are vinegar (wipe with a soft cloth dipped in undiluted white or cider vinegar on the chrome base) or baby oil (apply baby oil with a soft cloth and polish to remove stains - take care not to spill on the upholstery).
The seat can carry up to 200 kg.
To choose the right height, consider the place where you wish to place them. You barstools should allow for about 9 to 12 inches between the top of the seat and the counter or table top. New York barstool, with its adjustable height, will fit in nicely with most standard furniture.
